History
Brittany, on the northwestern tip of France, was known in Roman times as Armorica, or the "land of the sea". Thalassotherapy and balneotherapy (therapies that harness the sea's natural powers) are age-old activities there, where many types of seaweed flourish. The use of these seaweeds for their curative powers is an ancient tradition that continues in modern day France, a world leader in spa treatments and skin care.
